To China for Charlie

So if we're friends on Facebook, you've probably seen our news. We're going back to China! We are in the beginning stages of adopting a 13-month-old girl, who we've named Charlie, from Guangdong province who has vision impairment.

Like with all our babies, we've chosen a name that big meaning to us and I want to tell you about why we've chosen the name Charlie.  First though, I need to refresh your memory about Lorelai's name.

Lorelai was named after my spiritual mentor and the woman who led me to Christ -- my precious friend, Lora. Lora was my mom's good friend, my youth group leader, my dad's secretary and my friend. At age 17, Lora died very quickly from multiple myeloma, but before she died, she instilled a love of Jesus into my heart. She was a crazy, wild church lady who always had pranks up her sleeve and a place in her home for anyone who needed it.

Which brings me to this amazing woman, my dear friend Charlotte.

Charlotte never had the privilege of meeting Lora, but you'll see some similarities. Charlotte is one of the kindest, most generous people I know, and a crazy church lady to boot -- she loves Jesus and my kiddos much like my dear friend, and second mama, Lora did. She is my children's Lora. I couldn't imagine a better woman and friend to name my precious daughter after.

We still have many steps and many months to go, but we can't wait to have our sweet Charlie home. We thank you for joining us on this wild journey again.
